Soul Nights Ep. 1: Moonshots.

Soul Nights are cocktail parties gathering startup founders, artists, musicians, scientists, technologists, designers, entrepreneurs and investors. We believe in coming together to make innovation, technology and the Arts better than ever. Beautiful art, innovative products and world-changing ideas are not created behind desks or in a boardroom full of executives. They happen when the right people cross paths with each other and bounce ideas around.

Steve Jobs understood that serendipity was the key to innovation. It’s why he never separated the engineers and the designers into separate divisions – he wanted them constantly rubbing shoulders and bouncing ideas off each other.

At Toolkit for the Soul we feel the same way.  We believe that conversations spark original thoughts, ideas and solutions. We believe in harmonious collaboration, but also in friendly sparring. Above all, we believe that together we are more talented, and that community breeds genius. Even when we are different or don’t agree 100%. Especially when we don’t agree 100%.

In our first episode, we are going to talk about moonshots. It used to be that Silicon Valley was the place where ideas were welcomed and nurtured, no matter how crazy or how ambitious. In the last eight or so years, safer bets have been preferred (save for OpenAI) by founders and investors alike. That is very reasonable, and it makes sense that part, or even the majority of a portfolio would include safer bets. We are not here to advocate “reasonable” or “safe”, though. We want to see crazy ideas fly and crazier founders shine, again.

This week, Marc Suesser, founder of Curation Space, will talk about his journey from the safety of a FAANG job into the uncertainty of startups and the pleasure of finding a concept that calls you to throw all your passion and resources onto it.

The restaurant prepared a special menu for us. There’ll be a live DJ spicing things up at 7:30pm.

See you there! Let’s push boundaries together.
